Ombudsman Grace Malera says Mutharika offered Buluma a Job at NOCMA

The office of the Ombudsman has revealed that former President Peter Mutharika directed the appointment of Hellen Buluma as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA).

Ombudsman Grace Tikambenji Malera revealed this when releasing her report on the of unprocedural and irregular recruitment of Buluma who is also member of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

According to Malera, the OPC also indicated that security details from conditions of service provide that the position holder deserves one security guard.

Malera said she inquired and learnt from Buluma that there was no advertisement for the position and that she never submitted curriculum vitae CV for possible job offer.

According to Malera, Buluma admitted that she never applied for the job but she had right skills for the job.

She added that Buluma confirmed that she contested for a political position and that she was member of National Governing Council for former ruling DPP.
