Unknown woman dumps newly born baby in a banana field in Nkhotakota

A newly born baby has been found dumped in a banana field in Katengeza Village in the area of Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota district.

District Social Welfare Officer, MacDonald Mpichi has confirmed of the development in an interview with the one of the local media houses in the country.

According to Mpichi, the baby – boy, has since been admitted to Nkhotakota District Hospital, for medical attention after an observation that it was unwell.

He said his office, plans to send the baby to an orphanage, as an exercise to establish the whereabouts of its parents is underway.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for a woman suspected to have dumped the baby.
