Parliament staff workers down tools

Staff at Parliament Secretariat in Lilongwe have put down tools to force management to explain how a position for someone that died on September 30 2022 was advertised just about a week after his burial.

According to a reliable source, whose name has been withheld, the members of staff are not against filling the vacant position but are questioning the timing.

“People are not against filling positions but this person died about two weeks ago and a week later there was a vacancy advert in papers and the position that the deceased held was there.

“Someone has just been in the grave for a week and you advertise the position? So the staff members want answers to that,” said the source.
