2 Die In Road Accident After Being Hit By Tipper In Mchinji

Two people have died in a road accident after they were hit by an international tipper around Kapiri trading center in Mchinji district.

The deceased have been identified as Philipo Joseph aged 30 and Francis Katsonga aged 52, both from Mazenga village TA Dambe in Mchinji district.

Mchinji Police Station Officer Charles Mpezeni has confirmed, saying the accident occurred on Tuesday evening.

According to Mpezeni, the tipper which was driven by a Zimbabwe national Nhlalo Moyo was heading to Kasungu and upon reaching Bololo village, the vehicle hit a male pedal cyclist who carried a pillion passenger.

Due to the impact, both the pedal cyclist and the passenger sustained severe head injuries and were pronounced dead upon arrival at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Community Hospital.
