Teenager takes own life in Chiradzulu

A 14-year-old boy from Namalowo Village in Traditional Authority Kadewere in Chiradzulu District has committed suicide by hanging himself to the roof of pig’s kraal.

Chiradzulu Police Station Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Innocent Moses confirmed the development, saying the deceased, identified as Mike Sydney was found hanging by his mother on Saturday October 22, 2022.

Sydney’s mother found him hanging dead, according to Moses, adding that the mother reported the incident to the village head who referred her to the police.

“Postmortem conducted by clinicians revealed that death was due to suffocation secondary to hanging,” Moses said.

Meanwhile, the police are advising the general public to stop taking their own lives but rather seek counseling from authorities which include chiefs, block and faith leaders as well as the victim support unit.
