Yesterday, through national address, President Lazarus Chakwera fire Minister of Agriculture Lobin Lowe over the missing of millions of kwacha meant for subsidy fertilizer under the Affordable Input Programme (AIP), and replaced him with Sam Kawale.
Lowe was fire together with his vice Madalitso Wirima Kambauwa for what he described as negligence in the procurement process.
Malawians have reacted to the matter, while others have clapped hands for president for such decision other have attacked saying he was late to act on the matter.

Aubrey Tambala: 1st payment was done in May, 2nd payment in June, wasn’t the president aware of this? Didn’t the minister report and update the president on the procurement contracts of AIP program? This is just a face server for the president…RBM, ministry of finance treasury releasing such a huge sum of forex to a procurement contract that didn’t go through proper vetting…this is an organised syndicate…..a president nawonso akulephera ntchito.
Hastings Banda: Firing Lowe is not a lasting solution neither is gonna solve any problem at all,this guy was supposed to be arrested to deter the other would be offender.
hembe Kadangwe; There are still many questions to be answered, the minister wasn’t the key player here, what’s going to happen to the other player like people from treasury, SFFRM, RBM, etc. if they still remain in those positions what will stop them from repeating this? The rot is in the civil service and statutory corps.
Beatrice Bartholomew Davison: For some reason I don’t believe anything the president said, firing the minister does not mean this govt is corruption free. A lot is happening under your watch Mr President, you are sleeping on the job.
