Police reveal reasons why Ex-LUANAR student Mary Fulu hanged herself to death

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has come out of the cocoon to reveal reasons why former student of the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), formerly known as Bunda College Mary Fulu terminated her life.

Fulu was found hanging in the roof of the boys quarter yesterday and after the social the social media was flooded with speculations.

One of the speculations claimed that Fulu terminated her life after discovering that her boyfriend who is based in Blantyre impregnated another girl.

While confirming that Fulu terminated her life over love, the MPS indicated that the deceased was a mental patient.

“Brief facts are that deceased was a mental patient and she had been going to Bwaila Hospital for treatment and Councilling . Two weeks ago deceased had a boyfriend whom they promised to marry but terminated the relationship. Since she had mental problem she was so depressed parents came in after they so her depressiness by Councilling her until today morning when all parents went to work leaving her preparing for work. Deceased silently went into the boys quarter where she opened and hanged herself.

“Matter was reported to Kanengo Police Station where scene was visited by police together with medical personnel where dead body was carried for postmortem after Postmortem it was revealed that death was due to Strangulation. No foul play suspected,” reads in part the police report.

Until her death Mary Fulu was working with Ministry of Works in Lilongwe.
