7 Human Traffickers’ bail application in limbo as court reserves ruling

High Court Judge Annabel Mtalimanja has reserved her ruling on an application to set aside a magistrate’s decision which denied bail to suspects in a human trafficking case.

Defense made the application at the High Court on behalf of the accused.

The suspects have been in police custody for over two months now as their trial continues.

On September 29, Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza denied bail to seven of the accused who are suspected to have played various roles in trafficking a lady to Oman.

The alleged victim told the court that instead of working as a fuel attendant in Dubai as she was promised, she ended up being a house maid in Oman where her boss was also sexually assaulting her.
