At least three people have died after they were struck by a lightning at Unyolo Lungu village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Kampingo Siwande, Mzimba district.
Mzuzu police station publicist Paul Tembo confirmed the development and he added that two people have sustained injuries.
Tembo has identified the deceased as Alinafe Lungu, 20, Witness Nkhoma, 38 and David Nkhoma, 12.
According to Tembo, the incident occurred yesterday as Lungu and Nkhoma were on their way to sell vegetables at Sonda Township.
They sought shelter at a veranda of a house in the area due to heavy rainfall.
Tembo said the lightening hit them on the veranda while the 12-year-old child was hit while sleeping in the house.
