Boat Accident Update: Body of a woman found in Shire River

The body of a woman has been retrieved from the Shire River in relation to a boat that capsized on Wednesday in Nsanje.

The development means four people are still missing.

Nsanje police spokesperson, Agnes Zalakoma has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

Zalakoma has identified the deceased as Fina Yonahe Chimombo, from Chimombo village in the area of Traditional Authority Chimombo in the same district.

She said the body was retrieved late afternoon yesterday within the vicinity of Nsanje port.

Eleven others who were also in the boat on the fateful Wednesday survived the accident. The 16 people had been sailing back home from their crop fields on the Mozambican side when their canoe capsized.
