Mzimba Communities complain time cost of buying AIP Fertilizer

The beneficiaries in Mzimba North have expressed worry that they take a lot time to purchase the Affordable Input Program (AIP) fertilizer in their depots.

Farmers said a lot of depots in the district have no fertilizer, a problem that left them with no option but to travel to common centers of Kafukule and Ekwendeni.

Maclean Tembo one of the farmers said people are now used at spending four days at fertilizer depots, waiting for their turn to buy the commodities.

Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Sameer Suleman said it is worrisome that the ministry is not updating the nation on the progress of AIP, despite a number of requests the committee has made to the ministry.

The Officials in the Ministry of Agriculture have not yet respond on the matter.
