Tributes pour in for Walycris Wanyengo

Musicians and music lovers in the country are continuing pouring in their tributes to Walycris Wanyengo real name Wyson Laifoh who died last night in a road accident.

According to reports Walycris died in Zimbabwe as he was on his way from South Africa where went to perform alongside the country’s oldest band Zembani.

He is the only person who has died in the accident which involved a Matours bus and another vehicle. He died on the spot.

Musicians have taken to their social media platforms celebrating the life of their departed colleague.

Veteran gospel musician Thocco Katimba described the death of Walycris as shocking and heartbreaking.

Writer Kevin Sulugwe could not hold back his tears when he tried to describe what Walycris’ death has done to him.

“One of the most painful one today. This young man had the right attitude for greatiness and the talent to take him there. He came into the industry with his own signature and style, representing Yao lifestyle and still made everyone happy even those of us who do not speak Yao.

I am gutted, disappointed and broken. To my knowledge, this was our only conversation when he commented on my photo yesterday and I followed him immediately. Hearing he is gone today, I just wish, perhaps, we had talked a little longer to say goodbye. RIP WalyCris Wanyengo,” cried Sulugwe.

Lovers of Malawi music are still pouring in their condolences on various social media platforms in the same way celebrating the life of the departed talented young man.

The 25 year old who had just released his new track titled ‘Mbumu’ was loved by many with his Yao flavored music and he was beginning to reap from his sweat.

May he rest easy…
