Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi (APAM) has expressed worry over the delay of starting trials against people suspected to allegedly murder a child with albinism in Kasungu district.

The incident happened on the night of November, 30th 2022 at Mawawa village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Chulu in the district.

Following the incident, Police in December last year arrested eight suspects related to the case.

The suspects included the step father of the child and also a village headman of their village.

According to National Police Spokesperson, Peter Kalaya, the suspects are currently in custody waiting for trial.

In addition to that, President of the Association Young Muhamba, has called for a quick trial saying such delays are harmful to getting justice delivered in time.
