Mother Confesses to Killing Infant for Ritual to Become Rich in Zambia

Regina Sakeni, a 23-year-old woman from Kabwe, Zambia, has allegedly confessed to strangling her five-month-old baby between last Wednesday and Thursday and then disposing of the body in a bush near Mulungushi Road.
According to police, Sakeni stated that she committed the crime as a requirement for a ritual that she believed would bring her wealth.
The police have launched an investigation and Sakeni has been arrested and charged with murder.
The community is in shock and mourning the loss of an innocent life.
