MDF owes CRWB 3.5 billion in water bills

The Central Region Water Board (CRWB) has complained over the tendency of some government bodies like MDF for not paying water bills which have now reached to about four billion kwacha.

The board’s Chief Executive Officer Engineer John Makwenda told the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament that, for example, Malawi Defense Force (MDF) have a debt from the board of K3.4 billion since December 2020, which he said is upsetting its progress.

Following the complaint, PAC members have showed attention to look into the matter and found out why MDF is having more bills.

Various Water boards including Blantyre, Northern and Southern Region Water Boards have also in previous meetings with PAC mentioned that the MDF owes them huge sums of money.
