Child Dead, Six Women Missing After Boat Capsizes in Nsanje

A tragic incident occurred this morning at Evance village, Group Village Head Khambadza in the area of Traditional Authority Mlolo in Nsanje district when a boat carrying not less than 15 people capsized. Unfortunately, a child was reported dead and six women are missing.

According to Ruo Ward Councilor, Marko Molotali, the boat was carrying mostly women who were crossing to the other side to work in their crop fields. The body of the child has been taken to Trinity Mission Hospital, where eight people, including two men, are also receiving medical treatment. A search and rescue team is currently on the ground searching for the missing women.

The cause of the boat capsizing is not yet known, and police have yet to comment on the incident.

The community is in shock and mourning the loss of the child, and many are praying for the safe return of the missing women.
