A 22-year-old student has hanged himself on a tree a few meters from the School Football ground at Euthini Secondary School in the district.
The deceased has been identified as a Form three student, Samuel Jonathan Mjima 22, who hailed from Nkhalamu Village in Traditional Authority Mpherembe in Mzimba District.
The incident occurred on January 28, 2023 during evening hours at Euthini Secondary School.
Mjima left a suicide note in which he mentioned chronic sickness to have prompted him to commit suicide.
Euthini Police accompanied by Medical personnel from Euthini Health Center visited the scene, and the post-mortem conducted revealed the cause of death as suffocation secondary to strangulation.
Police in Mzimba are advising students in the district to find better ways of solving their problems instead of terminating own lives.
