Councilors Accuse Officials of Using Politics to Frustrate Development in Mangochi

Councilors in Mangochi, have raised concerns about the alleged use of politics to frustrate development projects in the area.

The councilors claim that some council workers who are affiliated with political parties are intentionally delaying the implementation of some initiatives, which is affecting the development of the district.

Ivy Sande, the Chairperson of the council, expressed her frustrations in an interview after a full council meeting. Sande claimed that the council officials are pleasing their political masters by deliberately delaying the implementation of some projects, which is hindering the growth of the district.

Sande accused some council workers of not wanting people in Mangochi to benefit from the various development initiatives that have been put in place.

The councilors have now agreed to have some council officials from the department of works moved to pave the way for others who are willing to do their work.

The move is aimed at ensuring that development projects are implemented on time and to the satisfaction of the councilors and the people of Mangochi.

Smart Gwedemula, the District Commissioner for Mangochi, has promised to engage the officers to establish the claims made by the councilors.

Gwedemula said that his office takes the concerns of the councilors seriously and is committed to ensuring that the people of Mangochi benefit from various development initiatives.
