Police in Salima have arrested a 19-year-old for allegedly defiling a nine year-old-girl in the district.
Spokesperson for Salima police station Jacob Khembo has identified the accused as Peter Somanje from Kambali Village TA Mabuka in Mulanje.
According to Khembo, on Monday Somanje enticed the victim to escort him to a Trade center in the district where on their way back he allegedly dragged her into a bush and committed the offence.
The victim later revealed the ordeal to her relatives who reported the matter to the police hence the arrest.
