President Lazarus Chakwera has cancelled his trip to attend the 36th session of the African Union Summit meeting in Addis Ababa.
The meeting is scheduled for 18th to 19 February, 2023.
President Chakwera has since delegated Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo to represent him at the summit.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.
According to the statement, Chakwera has failed to attend the summit due to other commitments including, ‘cabinet’s ongoing preparations for the budget meeting of parliament’.
