Former President Hastings Kamuzu Banda’s official hostess Cecilia Tamanda Kadzamira is today appearing before the High Court to testify in a homicide case in which her older sister Lucy Kadzamira was murdered.
Kadzamira, who was a nurse, was allegedly murdered at her Area 47 Residence in Lilongwe in October 2019.
Police arrested one suspect, 26-year-old Arafati Gomani Funsani in connection with the murder, while another suspect is at large.
Funsani has since pleaded not guilty before Judge Mzonde Mvula and the state says it will parade eight witnesses, with Kadzamira being the first witness.
She has since pleaded with the court that it is the wish of the family to see the court proceedings expedited, adding that the death of her sister is traumatising.
Kadzamira says on October 18, 2019, police went to her home where they informed her that her sister’s vehicle was found at Nsaru and asked her to escort them to her sister’s home.
When they entered the house, they found her sister’s body (Lucy) lying lifeless while her head was covered in a bucket.
She says the family was informed that autopsy results revealed that she was poisoned.
