Men Sentenced to Prison for Attempting to Buy Human Placenta for Mozambican Herbalist In Mangochi

Two men from Mangochi have been sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labor for attempting to purchase a human placenta from a nurse at one of the health centers in the district.

The incident occurred earlier this month when 22-year-old Richard Lameck and 23-year-old Friday Dickson approached the nurse at her home after she had finished her night shift.

The two men reportedly requested that the nurse sell them a human placenta on behalf of a Mozambican herbalist.

However, the nurse refused the proposal and reported the matter to her superiors who then contacted the Malombe Police Unit.

State Prosecutor Ted Namaona stated that the two men were charged with conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, which carries a maximum penalty of three months imprisonment with hard labor.

Both men pleaded guilty to the charge in court.
