Tragedy struck in Mambwe district when a 14-year-old pregnant girl was killed by a crocodile while attempting to cross the Msandile River with her friends.
Eunice Nkhata, who was six months pregnant, had asked her two friends to accompany her to pick guavas on the other side of the river. However, they never made it.
The incident occurred at around 7:00 am on Monday, March 8, 2023, in Muyembe village in senior chief Nsefu’s area. Headman Muyembe Voster Jere, who is also Eunice’s uncle, confirmed the sad news to the Daily Mail.
According to Mr Jere, Eunice had been craving guavas and wanted to pick some from the other side of the river. She asked her friends to help her cross the river, but unfortunately, tragedy struck.
The crocodile attacked and killed Eunice while her friends watched in horror.
