A 41-year-old Belgian man, Jurgen Van Caelenberg, is in agony after his 38-year-old wife, Ellen Khaula, allegedly hacked him on the head with an axe yesterday at their home in Chintheche-Nkhata-Bay following marital disagreements.
Nkhata-Bay police spokesperson, Sergeant Kondwani James, confirmed the incident, saying that Khaula is currently in police custody and has since been charged with causing grievous harm.
It is not clear what the argument was about or what led Khaula to attack her husband with an axe.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the matter and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
