Police in Mulanje are keeping custody two men on allegations that they killed their granny, Elanive Pinifolo 73, over Mtukula Pakhomo money.
The suspects have been identified as Chifundo Somba and Mphatso Sawasawa who are also nephews to the deceased
It is reported that the suspects have been demanding money from her grandmother every time the granny received the money.
On March 15 2023, the two suspects went again to their granny’s field where she was working and demanded money she had just received, but Phinifolo denied not to have that amount and the suspects assaulted her to death using panga knives and stones.
Postmortem conducted by medical practitioners revealed that death was due to loss of blood.
Meanwhile the two have been charged with murder and will be taken to court soon to answer the case leveled against them.
Meanwhile,Police in the district warn that anyone taking the law into his or her hand will be arrested and prosecuted.
Chifundo Somba is 18 years old and Mphatso Sawasawa is 25 years both hails from Mandozo Village Traditional Authority Chikumbu in the district.
