Teaching staff at St Andrews International Primary School in Blantyre, Malawi, who went on strike on Friday, have called off the strike.

The Private Schools Employees Union of Malawi, in a letter addressed to the Board Chairperson of the school, announced that the cancellation follows the appointment of an Interim Board of Governors on March 25, 2023.

The union also noted that a meeting between the new Board and the union representatives on March 27, 2023, resolved that the strike should stop while the Board carries out due diligence and fully investigates the grievances.

The teaching staff were calling for the resignation of the head teacher, whom they accused of failing to handle their grievances, including salary issues.

All members of the teaching staff are expected to be back in school as normal today
