Kings Foundation Private Schools donates assorted items to flood victims in Blantyre

Kings Foundation Private Schools on Wednesday have donated some assorted items to some people that were affected by the cyclone Freddy in Lunzu traditional authority Kapeni in Blantyre.

In an interview with the Face of Malawi Don Kasale , Kings foundation Private Schools Principle said that as a school they thought it wise to make the donation to the cyclone Freddy survivors so as to comfort them. Some of the things are blankets, salt,clothes, and soap.

Don Kasale therefore urged other cooperate world to still join hands in assisting the cyclone Freddy survivors.

Therefore Kasale said that the parents ,guardians, for the kings foundation private schools contributed some funds for the donation of the cyclone Freddy survivors in Lunzu camps.

On his part Austen Njalamano traditional authority kapeni disaster general secretary said that cyclone Freddy affected about 6420 in Lunzu area. According to Njalamano about 1063 are currently staying in camps in Lunzu.

In this regard Njalamano appealed for more support so as to help the people that have been affected by the cyclone Freddy. Njalamano lamented that the affected people are homeless as their houses and properties have been washed away by the cyclone Freddy.

Njalamano added that the people at Lunzu camp are lacking some basic needs like soap,sugar, food and blankets, as well as clothes.

In this regard Austen Njalamano commended the kings foundation private schools for the donation. He added that it will go a long way in addressing some of the challenges that the cyclone Freddy survivors are facing at the camp.

According to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA as of Tuesday 28 march 2023 about 537 people are still missing. DODMA has recorded about 676 deaths of the Cyclone Freddy impact to date.
