Munthali filed notice of appeal for his conviction and 6 years sentence

Former director of Information, Gedion Munthali has filed a notice of appeal for both his conviction and sentence at the High Court in Lilongwe.

Munthali was sentenced Munthali to three years imprisonment by High Court Judge Patrick Chirwa for conspiracy to commit a felony and six years for theft by a public person the sentences  running concurrently early this month.

A copy of the notice of appeal states that Munthali is dissatisfied with both the conviction and verdict the meted out on him.

The notice further states that the grounds of appeal will be provided later after accessing the court record.

Munthali was convicted and sentenced together with former minister of Information Henry Mussa in connection with the disappearance of 10 computers and a stand-by generators belonging to government.
