Woman electrocuted to death in Mzuzu

A 21-year-old woman has died at Mchengautuwa township in Mzuzu City after being electrocuted by wires from a fallen electricity pole near her house in the early hours of today.

Mzuzu Police Station Public Relations Officer, Paul Tembo has confirmed the development saying postmortem is being conducted that will ascertain the cause of death.

But father of the deceased, Medson Thegha has that the electricity pole fell due to heavy rains that have been falling in the city since last night.

Thegha said his wife wanted to answer the call of nature and got caught up. Her daughter rushed after her and got electrocuted in the process.

The mother of the deceased is said to have sustained minor injuries as she is experiencing numbness.
