Electricity Generation Company Malawi Limited (EGENCO) has announced the resumption of power production at Kapichila Hydro Power Station following the station’s restoration project.
Kapichila Power Station got damaged due to Cyclone Anna in February 2022.
Confirming the resumption of power production at the station, EGENCO’s Public Relations Manager, Moses Gwaza said as of now, one of the 4 machines at the power station is producing 32.4 megawatts and the company is expected to add another machine tonight.
Gwaza said EGENCO is targeting to have 3 out of 4 machines running as work on the cofferdam continues.
Kapichila Hydro Power Station produces 129 megawatts when all it’s 4 machines are running.
