DPP governor Charles Mchacha endorses Mutharika

Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regional governor for the South Charles Mchacha has endorsed former President Peter Mutharika as the party’s torchbearer in the forthcoming 2025 polls.

Mchacha’s move comes barely hours after the party’s central block led by DPP Vice President Zeria Chakale endorsed Mutharika ahead of the party’s elective conference.

In the photos currently circulating on the social media, Mchacha is seen putting on a party regalia suggesting that he is behind Mutharika’s presidency.

This is a dramatic twist of events for Mchacha as he earlier endorsed former governor of reserve bank Dalitso Kabambe.

Meanwhile, Mutharika is yet to make a decision on whether to stand or not.
