Police Seize assorted medical drugs-Suspects arrested

Police in Mzimba have arrested two people for being found in possession of assorted medical drugs without authentic documents.
The suspects have been identified as Chimwemwe Chunga and Hastings Ngwira who were arrested on April 24, 2023 at St Paul’s along M22 road in Mzimba.
It is reported that, on the said date the duo who were on the motorcycle were intercepted at a snap roadblock which was mounted by the Malawi Defense Force soldiers who were conducting refresher courses in the district.
Despite being stopped, the duo just cruised which prompted the soldiers to close the road completely and later detained the two.
After being searched they were found with assorted medical drugs without permit and were later arrested.
The drugs include 116 tablets of LA, 1322 tablets of metro, 1000 tablets of amoxicillin, 164 tablets of ethoromyclin, 1832 tablets of contriumizole, 1000 tablets of DCN, 143 tablets of ARV, and 1000 tablets of endomethro.
Police further found other drugs at one of the suspect’s house.
The suspects will soon appear in court to answer the charge of found in possession of medical drugs without permit.
 Chimwemwe Chunga is 35 years old hails from Chinkhwiri Village, Traditional Authority Chakhaza in Dowa while Hastings Ngwira is 25 years old hails from Luhono Village,Traditional Authority Chikulamayembe in Rumphi District.
