Man slapped 22 months imprisonment for theft in Mangochi

Mangochi First Grade Magistrate Court has convicted and sentenced a man to 22 months’ imprisonment with hard labour for stealing from the shop where he was employed.
State Prosecutor Sub-inspector Margret Chibulire identified the convict as Wyson Osman aged 30.
Chibulire told the court that Osman committed the offense in January this year at the shop of Pacific Kandu in Mangochi district where he was working as a stores clerk.
The suspect stole 30 cartons of lion and 10 cartoons of tiger batteries, all valued at K4 million.
She added that the owner of the shop lodged a complaint to Mangochi Police station and the suspect was arrested immediately.
Appearing in court recently, Osman pleaded guilty for the offense, which forced the court to convict him upon his own plea of guilty.
Meanwhile, First Grade Magistrate Roy Kakutu said looking at all evidence tendered in the court, it is clear that the convict planned for the offense, hence the need to punish him accordingly by sentencing him to 22 months in imprisonment.
