MP Gladys Ganda speaks out on canoe accident on Shire River

Opposition Democratic Progressive party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Nsanje Lalanje Constituency Gladys Ganda has expressed shock over a fatal canoe accident which happened this morning on Shire River.

According to information at hand, a canoe carrying over 30 people capsized this morning around 7 am after being hit by a hippo.

Local leader claim, the canoe had carried over 30 people who were on their way to their crop fields in Mozambique.

An infant has reportedly died while eight people have survived the accident.

“I am very devastated with what happened earlier today that a canoe has capsized while crossing the Shire River,” wrote Ganda.

Meanwhile, rescue mission is currently underway.
