DENEYE rescues elderly, disabled people in Machinga

Communities from traditional Authority Mtumbwinda in Machinga have been told not to segregated elders and people with disabilities.

The remarks were made when development network for Youth and empowerment (DENEYE) was donating some non-food items to the people.

Traditional Authority Mtumbwinda said organisation always act first on any emergencies.

“Although this organisation don’t have funds it always come to us when we are endangered, so have no word rather appreciating good work that you started long time back”, he said.

He then encouraged youths in the area to emulate what the organisation is doing by taking care of people with disabilities and elders.

“This is good to go I would like to appeal to other youths in the country to start appreciating and honouring these people so that they may live longer”, he said.

One of the beneficiaries Esnart Bround thanked the organisation for the help and asked for support as people in the area are still nursing problems caused by cyclone Freddy.

The organization’s Executive director Shalid Ishmael said with the way he has seen how people are suffering, he has plegded to continue lobbying for other resources from welwishers and stakeholders.

“We have seen that people are starving from hunger, lack of good shelter kitchen utensils and clothes I am asking people who can help so that I can divert to them”, he said.
