Forex crisis forces Mount Meru to relocate to Zimbabwe

Information reaching this publication indicates that Mount Meru Petroleum Limited is relocating to Zimbabwe to due to forex crisis in the country.

This has been revealed in a letter addressed to Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) seeking permission to transfer its trucks and trailers from Malawi to Zimbabwe.

According to a document seen by this publication, Mount Meru want to de-register its trucks and trailers which will be permanently transferred from their company in Malawi to their sister companies in Zimbabwe.

“The trucks have not been moving much because we are not importing fuel from both Tanzania and Mozambique following the scarcity of foreign currencies in the country, and we are struggling to pay our dues to pay the international banks,” reads part of the letter.
