Govt consults AG to vacate an injunction obtained by Rwandan immigrant to stop relocation of refugees exercise

Government says it is consulting Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda to vacate injunction obtained by a Rwandan Sylvestre Bizimana stopping Homeland Security Ministry and Immigration Department from forcing him and his family to relocate to Dzaleka Refugee Camp.

The High Court judge Howard Pemba granted an injunction to Bizimana on 25th May 2023 as the claimant is seeking judicial review on the issue of forced relocation to Dzaleka camp arguing that is a Malawian citizen.

Bizimana is one of people having containers of agriculture produces at the Mgona market in Lilongwe.

Patrick Botha Spokesperson for Ministry of Homeland Security said that as the defendants they were not served with court process on interparte summons hence it is now that they are consulting the Attorney General Nyirenda to vacate the application.

Botha has since alleged that the ministry is also investigating criminal related deals at Mgona Market including illegal fire arms, money laundering, printing fake currency, illegal sale of agricultural produce, foreign currency and printing fake IDs.
