Kunkuyu speaks out on Muluzi’s freedom

Date:

Minister of Information and Digitisation Moses Kunkuyu has confirmed that the former President Dr Bakili Muluzi is a free man after the High Court in Blantyre dropped all the charges against him.

The court’s decision is based on the issuance of a certificate of discontinuance of the case which the Director of Public Prosecutions, Masauko Chamkakala, made on 26 May 2023.

Muluzi, 80, was being accused of diverting K1.7 billion in donor support to his account when he was the President of Malawi.

The case has taken 14 years under three previous administrations.
