A 61-year-old man, Jisephy Edward Banda has been found dead in a maize field, with nine stab wounds, spread across his neck, belly and chest.
Banda is said to have left home on Friday at around 11am for beer drinking (Kachasu) at Kadzimete Village in his district, Dowa.
At around 2pm he returned home for lunch but found that his wife had not yet prepared food.
It is alleged that he therefore took K500 from his wife’s wrapper and left, purportedly for continuation of beer drinking, but this time he did not return home.
Mponela Police Station spokesperson Macpatson Msadala has said Banda was later found dead in a maize field.
He said postmortem has revealed that the death was due to severe loss of blood due to the multiple wounds and Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
