Law enforcers fire warning shots at refugees who are returning to the streets

Malawi Police Service has strongly warned and calls upon all refugees who were successfully relocated to Dzaleka Refugee Camp and are returning into cities and towns to immediately go back.

Two weeks ago the Ministry of Homeland Security in conjunction with the law enforcers embarked on the exercise of removing asylum seekers from town and cities to Dzaleka Camp in Dowa.

Despite the exercise, reports are indicating that the refugees are returning back to the street.

In a statement released by MPS signed by Senior Superintendent Peter Kalaya-Service Public Relations Officer who indicated that it is a crime to interfere with security agencies by harbouring the returning refugees and that anyone who will be found will be arrested and prosecuted.

“Malawians should see the refugees act of returning into cities and towns as clear disregard of the country’s laws and open defiance to legitimate authority,” Kalaya said.

  1. This means that you can directly complain to the State Bar Council where the advocate is practicing. Or if the attorney suspended from practice advocate is not enrolled with any State Bar, you can complain directly to the BCI. To find out if a lawyer is enrolled with a State Bar Council, you can file an application under the RTI Act for the same.
