Silver Strikers Coach Pieter De Jongh says bye to Malawian football

Silver Strikers Pieter De Jongh has said goodbye to Malawi football in a post-match interview following his side’s first defeat of the season courtesy of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

He said: “This is personal, the whole Stadium see that I did nothing. Maybe it’s time to say goodbye to everyone I go and coach in another country.”

His reaction follows a red card flashed to him during the match. His assistant Peter Mgangira and goalkeeper trainer Sbu Padambo plus defender Nickson Mwase received red cards.

Reacting to the development Strikers company secretary Peter Masiye in a separate interview said the club could not issue any comment on the coach’s sentiments.

De Jongh’s conduct has forced the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) to summon him and the club management.
