Forex dealer shot dead in Lilongwe

Lilongwe Police Station has instituted investigations into the death of a 29-year-old Rashid Kanga, at Ekhaya buildings behind Game Complex Mall, whose body was found with gunshot wounds.

Lilongwe Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu says Kanga’s body was found along the Bypass road between Katete and Dudu farms on July 22, 2023.

He says on the said date, at around 20:00 hours, the station received a report about the body of an unidentified man lying dead at the said scene.

“Police rushed to the scene and took the body to Kamuzu Central Hospital for postmortem where results revealed that death was due to head injuries, secondary to gunshot wounds.

“Police preliminary inquiries have so far indicated that the place, where Kanga’s body was found, is a secondary crime scene,” Chigalu has told Times 360 Malawi.

The law enforcers believe that Kanga was shot dead at a different place before being dumped at the scene and suspect those responsible wanted to rob him of his money since he was dealing in forex.

Rashid Kanga hailed from Chiipeleka Village, Traditional Authority Jalasi in Mangochi District.
