Mutharika cheers sick ex-Minister Grace Obama Chiumia


Former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on Tuesday cheered former Minister of Sports Grace Obama Chiumia at her retirement home in Mzuzu.

Chiumia, a stanch DPP member has been sick for sometime now and is currently using a wheelchair.

Mutharika was accompanied by former first lady Gertrude Mutharika, former Minister of Health Jappie Mhango and DPP regional governor for the North Christopher Mzomera Ngwira.

On her speech Chiumia hailed Mutharika for the visit.

Mutharika went to the north to attend the burial ceremony of former Minister of Finance and Economic Development Goodall Gondwe who died on August 8, 2023 after a short illness.
