Suspected thief dies minutes after stealing a motor vehicle of a Pastor in Zambia

ONE of two armed criminals has faced the instant wrath of God when he died after stealing a car from a Pastor.

Max whose other names are not known died instantly while his colleague Gift Mulenga aged 26 has been hospitalized after a vehicle they stole from Pastor Adams Mwale overturned.

The two criminals armed with a pistol are believed to have attacked the Pastor as he was coming from praying for someone near Kapata Seventh Day Adventist ( SDA) in Chipata of Eastern Province and left him for dead before speeding off with his car.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga who confirmed the incident to Mwebantu said it occurred on Thursday, August 17th.
The police spokesperson said the report was given by the Victim Pastor Mwale.

He said that the deceased criminal Max whose other names are not known is a Lusaka citizen, while his colleague Gift, is from Kitwe.

Mr Hamoonga said the vehicle in question is a Mazda white in colour, registration BAL 2724 valued at K45,000.

“Brief facts are that the victim who is a Pastor went to pray for someone near Kapata SDA church then in the process of parking his vehicle along the road he was attacked. The criminals robbed him of his vehicle and sped off along Mfuwe road and the same vehicle later overturned at Fisheries Chipata and the driver identified as Max other names not known died on the spot whilst his colleague identified as Gift Mulenga sustained fractured legs, a cut on the left heel, bruises on the forehead and general body pains,” he said.

Mr Hamoonga said police recovered a black Glock pistol serial number SLC 729 with 13 rounds of ammunition that the criminals used in the commission of the crime.

“The vehicle was extensively damaged and the deceased’s body is lying in Chipata Central Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial. While his injured colleague, Gift Mulenga is admitted to Chipata Central Hospital under police guard,” he said.
