CHILEKA POLICE CONFISCATE 276 BAGS OF CHARCOA

Police in Chileka have seized and confiscated a lorry carrying 276 bags of Charcoal on Wednesday, along Blantyre Zalewa M1 road.

Chileka Police Sergeant Jonathan Phillipo said

the police also arrested the driver for committing offences under Forest Act.

Phillipo said the vehicle registration number NN 5948 Scania 94 D which was driven by Yakobe Phiri,Yeneya village of Traditional Authority Kanduku, in Mwanza district was heading from the direction of Zalewa towards Blantyre Kameza roundabout.

“Upon reaching Kamuzu College of Nursing(K.C.N), he was intercepted by a team of officers who mounted an adhock roadblock during the night.

“The officers found 276 bags of charcoal and immediately arrested the driver,” he said

He will appear in court soon to answer charges laid against him.
