22 People have been arrested in Mzuzu following a raid by Police in the city yesterday on 24 August 2023.
In a quest to eliminate criminality in Mzuzu, Police have managed to arrest 22 suspects, suspected to have committed various criminal and statutory offences and seize liquor, 40 litres of petrol, and 15 litres of diesel. .
Deputy Public Relations Officer for Mzuzu Police Constable Mercy Chitonde has said that the arrests came when police were conducting an intelligence driven special operation aimed at keeping Mzuzu a crime free zone.
Among Thirteen (13) of the suspects have been arrested for selling liquor without permit, four (4) for being found in possession of petroleum products without permit, and five (5) others for idle and disorderly.
The suspects are expected to appear before court soon to answer applicable charges.
