Jenda Police in Mzimba have launched a manhunt for Ponda Ndhlozi on suspicions that he murdered his 58-year-old uncle, Gifton Ndhlozi in Mzimba after accusing him of practicing witchcraft.
According to Jenda Police spokesperson Macfarlen Mseteka, the suspect stalked the deceased during the night on Sunday and hacked him with an axe.
“On that fateful night, Ndhlozi went to visit the toilet where his nephew took advantage of the situation and hacked his uncle in the back with an axe and fled the scene.
“The victim called for help and he was rushed to the Jenda Rural hospital, but it was too late since the axe went right through his spine”, said Mseteka.
Post-mortem results have established that Ndhlozi’s death was due to severe loss of blood.
