Activist Bon Kalindo released

Information reaching this publication indicates that political activist Bon Kalindo has been released from police cell.

The Lilongwe Magistrate Court on Wednesday ordered immediate release of the comedian-cum-political activist but the police remained adamant and transferred him to Dwangwa.

Kalindo’s lawyer Stanley Chirwa has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

“I have spoken with Nkhunga police unit officer in-charge and he says that my client has been released but I will only believe it once I see him in person,” he said.

Kalindo was arrested yesterday as he was about to lead Malawians in protesting against President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his Vice Dr. Saulos Chilima.

The activist want Chakwera and Chilima to resign from their respective offices.
