DPP Councillor Chimbanga salutes police for arresting thugs who murdered MCA student


Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward Leonard Chimbanga has saluted men in uniform from Soche Police for allegedly apprehending thugs who killed Shaibu Ali Dulani, a Forth year student at Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA).

Dulani was murdered last month in Nkololokosa and the suspected thieves went away with his laptop at cell phone.
Writing on his official Facebook page Chimbanga hailed the law enforcers for the effort in arrest the suspected murderers.

“I am delighted to announce that with help from the community Soche Police led by Officer in charge Ruth Harawa has arrested these three murder suspects for the murder of Shaibu Ali Dulani, a Forth year student at Malawi College of Accountancy MCA who was murdered in Nkolokosa town last month. The suspects are (1) Gift James, Aged 19 (2) Thoko Saikonde, aged 18 years, (3) Twaibu Shaibu aged 18years. They hit Shaibu in the head and robbed him of his laptop.They were arrested in Manja township.

“The Officer in charge has asked me to thank residents for their continued support and tips that led to the arrest of the suspects. Together we continue to ask residents to avoid the use of shortcuts along Kenyatta drive road and footpaths to MUBAS when alone mainly after 4:30 PM, but also avoid carrying expensive gadgets at night.Chitetezo Ndiwe mwini,” wrote Chimbanga.

He added: “We will continue to combat crime in Soche East Ward. To the thieves or their relations while I appeal to residents not to take the law into their own hands when they catch you. Be mindful that the police and myself may not be there in time to save you when you are caught. So it would be better if you avoid it all together. Azakuphani akakugwirani anthu.

“On a side note: These boys live with their parents and operate small businesses. So anthu achifwamba tikukhala nawo m’makomomu.”

Meanwhile, the three suspects will appear in court soon.
