Musician Atoht Manje laid to rest in Mangochi

Musician Atoht Manje has been laid to rest at his home, Sanyira Village in the Area of Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi.

Scores of people attended the burial ceremony of the artist, who used music to promote and preserve culture.

Before the burial, Skeffa Chimoto who spoke on behalf of friends, described Atoht Manje as an exceptional artist, who crafted his own style of music that appealed to both the young and the old.

He expressed concern with the rate at which young musicians are dying saying they were the right people to help grow the creative sector.

The deceased’s brother Elias Samson Maluwa said the family is at pains after losing Atoht Manje whom he said was a ‘bread winner’.

Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture Richard Chimwendo Banda represented President Lazarus Chakwera at the burial ceremony.

Atoht Manje died in the early hours of Sunday soon after his performance at University of Livingstonia in Rumphi .
He was born on September 1, 1989. He is survived by a wife and four children.
